
2nd Grade: Read outloud Stellaluna, by Janell Cannon. Then, everyone diagrammed a bat using Excel. We compared bat parts to human body parts. Bats are the only mammal that can fly! For more bat information checkout http://intergate.cccoe.k12.ca.us/bats/ .

3rd Grade: Discussed the history of the compass rose. Originally, the compasss points were not N,S,E,W. The compass points were named from the winds.

4th Grade: Read the interactive Living in Space website with partners. We learned how to design a space station.
5th Grade: Continued researching explorers and recording findings using the readwritethink.org online timeline. We practiced using multiple texts and recording the main ideas.
5th Grade bilingual: Continued researching the CAUSE and EFFECTS of volcanoes. Information is gathered using books, encyclopedias and Internet. Using Kidspiration, a mind map is created. Then, notes are turned into a paragraph writing piece.
